Company Firmographic Data: What It Is and How to Enrich It

Company information → /company — Get company details such as industry, employee count, headquarters, website, company description, and more.

Company funding → /company_funding — Get funding history, total funding, funding rounds, investors, and valuation data.

Company employees → /employee_finder — Find employees at a company, with options to filter by role, location, and other criteria.

Professional email → /email_finder — Find a person's professional email using their name and company information.

If you work in sales or RevOps, you’ve probably researched a company after it signed up for a trial or requested a demo. This usually involves checking multiple sources to understand the company’s size, industry, funding, location, and other important details.

Doing this manually takes time and can slow down the lead qualification and decision-making process.

In this article, we’ll use EnrichmentAPI to enrich company data automatically, so you can get detailed company information much faster and spend less time on manual research.

Why is Company Enrichment necessary?

Sales/outbound: funding is a buying trigger. It targets companies that just raised, reaching the right buyer fast.
VC/deal sourcing: spot companies at the right funding stage, get founder/leadership contacts before a round closes.
Recruiting: funding is a hiring signal too. It helps find companies scaling teams, target specific departments.
CRM hygiene/lead routing: auto-enrich inbound signups, score/route leads, add urgency from funding data.
Competitive intel: track competitors’ funding, headcount, hiring. No manual Crunchbase/LinkedIn checks.
Partnerships/BD: same as sales, but targeting BD/alliances contacts instead of buyers.

The Data Pipeline

First, we will enrich the company data using the Company Enrichment API.
Now, we have two optional steps. a) Finding employees of a company and b) Finding the investment history of a company.
Once we have the employee list, we can find the emails of the top leadership.
We can now send emails to decision-makers and generate leads.

Company Enrichment

In this section, we will extract company data using the Company Enrichment API. For this tutorial, we will pull data for Stripe. You can either pull the data from the dashboard or you can collect it through an API.

If you prefer to use the API, you can do it like this. For this example, we’ll be using Python 3.x. If Python is not installed on your machine, you can download and install it from python.org.

Finding Emails of Key People

Now, the final step before reaching out to any prospect would be to find their email. Here, we will use the email finder API.

Jackson Young is a Product Manager at Stripe. Let’s say you want to reach out to him, either to pitch your product or explore an integration opportunity with Stripe. Let’s try to find Jackson Young’s email address directly from the dashboard.

We were able to find Jackson’s email address successfully. EnrichmentAPI uses multiple data sources and verification methods to identify the most accurate email address for an employee.

You can also integrate the Email Finder API and make a GET request to the /email_finder endpoint to find the email address of any target prospect.
